Schitt's Creek
Dan Levy & Eugene Levy · 2015
The entire architecture of the series rests on the idea that affectation is armor and that losing it, though humiliating, is the only path to genuine human contact. What critics initially missed is that the show is less a fish-out-of-water comedy than a prolonged grief narrative — the Rose family is mourning an entire self-concept, and the humor is how they perform denial.
