Chantal Akerman · 1975
Akerman constructs meaning through the unbroken repetition of domestic gesture, allowing the smallest deviation in a peeled potato or a dropped spoon to register as seismic. Like Reich's phasing cells, the film's power emerges from the viewer's slow attunement to micro-variation within apparent stasis.
