Now and Then, Here and There
Akitaro Daichi · 1999
A boy is hurled into a desert future where a child-king conscripts orphans into endless war, water is rationed by gunpoint, and girls are systematically violated to produce more soldiers. The series refuses sentimental abstraction about genocide, depicting it instead as bureaucratic, banal, and built from the labor of indoctrinated children.
