Allá Lejos y Hace Tiempo
Atahualpa Yupanqui · 1965
Yupanqui's late recordings strip his guitar to a sparse, almost translucent meditation on dispossession, exile, and the children of the pampa who inherit only silence from their fathers. The album's refusal of melodic comfort matches Shu's wordless witness to Lala-Ru's grief, both insisting that some sorrows can only be carried, never resolved.
